This weeks news...This week we visit the Frankfurt Galaxy 'vs' the Rhein Fire. Nothing much happened in the first quarter, so we'll start with the Second. The Galaxy drove quickly down the field led by QB Delhomme. Delhomme with 1st and goal on the 2, could not manage to punch it in so they settled for a field goal. -3-0 Frankfurt- The next series was the first for Oakland allocated Pat Barnes. Barnes first pass was short and incomplete. His second pass connected to NFL Europe League leading receiver Mario Baily, but was called back for holding. The third play was a hand off to Cheney the RB. This was sucessful for an 8 yard gain. The drive stalled out when Baily was tackled before the catch resulting in an incomplete pass. When the Galaxy next received the ball there was a fumble on the punt return giving Rhein the ball back. Oakland allocated Scott Whittaker called time out just before the 2 minute warning helping to give the Rhein Fire time to score. Rhein put in #2 QB ArellanasAt this point I noticed Whittaker really pushing his guy around, blasting holes, and doing a very nice job all around. He blocked as many as 3 guys at a time. Rhein did not score. The second series for Barnes began with 58 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. Barnes gave the ball to Cheney. With 40 seconds left the coach had some words for Barnes. "Be smart", and "Don't be stupid". Barnes dropped back … scrambled … pump fake … scrambled some more … threw on the way down … sacked, loss of 13 yards. With: 36 seconds left, Barnes gave the ball again to Cheney, who ran out the clock … halftime. With the third quarter beginning, the Frankfurt Galaxy coach decided two series were not enough so, Barnes started. The first pass was a completion to Mario Bailey for 6 yards. Barnes proceeded to complete a pass to the TE for a first down. On the next play QB Pat Barnes called out "Orange! Orange! Orange! Orange! Orange!" This audible was a pass in the flat to Bailey for an 8-yard gain. The next play went to Cheney for no gain. Pat Barnes, on the run from the pass rush, hucked the ball to Mario Bailey once again for a 40-yard completion and a 1st down. The drive ended with a field goal. Arellanas returned for the Fire and completed a pass to Mike Reed, of … the Galaxy. So, it's Pat Barnes at the helm once again. A pass in the flat to Cheney for 3, a bullet to Todd Floyd for 16, and a Cheney 9-yard run, brought us to the next two audibles. "Green! Green! Green! Green! Green!" On 2nd and 6 brought an incompletion. "Yellow! Yellow! Yellow! Yellow!" brought a 38yd TD from Barnes to Bailey. That was Barnes 6th TD on the year. In the fourth quarter, Delhomme ran short for a 1st down and almost got decapatated. Next week, Scotland Claymores 'vs' Rhen Fire. |
