This weeks news...

The Dragons won the toss, but Phillips and company went nowhere. The Galaxy benefited from a 45-yard punt return from Sean Scales, putting them in good field position. As usual Frankfurt plays Jake Delhomme 1st & 3rd and Pat Barnes 2nd & 4th. Delhomme dropped back, threw the deep pass, wrong team.

With the interception for Barcelona, it was time for Phillips to show his stuff. Phillips has 100+ yards (combined) in every game. Not this time. Lawrence Phillips went know where. He was stopped, dropped, stuffed, and buried for minus yards through the third quarter.

1st and 10 for Jake Delhomme, it's a handoff to Jermaine Cheney for no gain … complete to McCullough to the 25 yd line … Touchdown Delhomme to McCullough.

Barnes turn -
Barns passes to McCullough on the blitz … first down! 1st and 10 again, Barnes throws it away. 2nd & long, Barnes completes a 4 yard pass. On 3rd down with pressure and no one to throw to Barns scrambles for the 1st down. This drive stalls out on 3rd down with a bullet pass intercepted by Christian Moss. Barnes next drive stalls out on 3rd down with a good pass through the hands of WR Andy McCullough.

With Phillips still going nowhere the Dragons punt. The punt is blocked though, for a safety.

With less than 2 minutes to go Barnes throws deep for Mario Bailey. This pass was complete for 25 yards. Bailey is Barns usual target, but had the flu and was not expected to play. A play-action pass was completed to the TE Hippler for another 1st down. 2nd down Barnes over throws his target in the end zone, but completes on 3rd for another 1st down and more tries for the end zone. Barnes spikes the ball with 1:18 left. A draw play brought the Galaxy near the 10-yard line. No one was open on third down, so Frankfurt settled for a field goal.

Phillips runs for nothing some more.

With Delhomme back at the helm, and a series of Cheney runs, the drive stalled … another interception. Eventually Barcelona made a touchdown. On the touchdown play, Phillips made a good block. This was the turning point for Phillips. Phillips runs 31 yards for another TD. Now it's a game.

Barnes was hammered on first down. On second, he drew the defense offside with the hard count. On third down he completed a pass to McCullough for another first down. Now on the 41-yard line, Cheney runs for 6. With four yards to go Barnes calls out an audible. Barns saw the corner blitz coming and changed the play. Barnes threw to Bailey for a 19-yard gain. Five Cheney runs in a row brought them inside the 15. With a missed field goal try, the Galaxy got nothing.

The Dragons won in overtime.
