Raiders sign Ray Zellars

RB Ray Zellars:

The Oakland Raiders signed RB Ray Zellars. Zellars said about coming to the Raiders ... "It's very exciting" ... "The Raiders showed an interest" ... "since free agency began". We know Zellars can block, but what about running? "I do a lot of running in between tackles" Between the tackles last season Zellars carried 56 times for an average of 162 yards. His longest run? His longest run was for 15 yards and a touchdown. Zellars caught 10 passes for 50 yards. He joins Kaufman and Salaam as RB members of the '95 draft.

RB Zach Crockett:

RB Zach Crockett is a bruising fullback who spent last season playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Crockett comes in at 6'2" and 246lbs. Crockett played on Special Teams in each of last seasons games. He was second in rushing yds in '97 for the Colts. He started his NFL career in '95 with Indy.

Greg Skrepenak, the giant, weighs in at 6'7" and 370 lbs. He had no problem running the court in a recent b-ball game against the Niners, so I have no worries about the weight.

DB Jonnie Harris:

Jonnie Harris was the Defensive player of the year for the AFL in '98. Harris weighs in at 6'2" and 200lbs. In his first game Harris had four tackles, 1 interception, 1 broken pass, and a fumble recovery. That started his career on the right track. He set the league's single-season record for passes defensed with 33, breaking the league record of 26 set by Orlando's Chris Barber last season. He tied for the league lead in interceptions with 11, just one off the single-season mark set by teammate Tracey Perkins; Perkins had an legue record 12 in 1997.

Gannon has taken the reigns from Jeff George to guide the Raiders to the Playoffs this season. This feat he will accomplish under the instruction and guidance of Head Coach Jon Gruden. Gannon has spent a lot of time in Alameda picking up Grudens system. He is currently looking for a home in the Bay area.
